New and Improved

This is the promise of many things these days. It seems the original is not good enough anymore. Mankind is never satisfied it seems. Even perfect was not good enough.
Adam and Eve had it PERFECT. Think about it; the Garden of Eden was perfect…it was Paradise. God took care of everything; all they had to do was live together and enjoy perfection. Adam didn’t have to plow a filed, plant a seed, pull a single weed or even keep varmints out. Adam only had to enjoy and be the overseer of the place. The animals didn’t fear man, (didn’t happen until after the flood, see Genesis 9), they all lived together in that wonderful perfect place.
What happened to Adam and Eve happens to all of us at one point or another. The enticement of “New and Improved” (and even “light”) comes along. Now if what these products provided what they “promised” there would be no need of doctors or gyms. We would all be healthy, wealthy and wise (as the old rhyme says). But looking in the mirror I know that “New, and Improved (and especially light) didn’t work in all areas of my life.
Adam and Eve were promised something by someone that could never provide them with that result. Satan promised improvement in their life, even with the hint of “newness”. As with all advertisement, there is a “smidgen” of truth in it; i.e. some sodium is reduced, some sugar is less in the percentage category, some more good vitamins are added, and less calories per serving…you get the point. All the while something is added that still makes it unhealthy for you or even harmful. The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! “For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:4-5)
Yes Adam and Eve did not die that day (physically), but they did die spiritually. Paradise became Prison; fellowship with God was broken.
While my physical appearance might not be as new and improved (or as light) as I would like it to be, my spiritual body is. That is because of the promise of God and what Jesus Christ did on the cross. Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. (2 Corinithians 5:17)
I am a new person and God is constantly improving me. Don’t listen to the world’s way of becoming new and improved. The only way out of Prison back to Paradise is God’s way. You can be New and Improved!
If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. (Romans 10:9–10)
